SUPERINTENDENT FRIENDLY PERFORMANCE

Description:
Shark creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) is a new generation 8 clone variety developed from persistent plants collected from the Northeast and Southeast United States and tested evaluated in Australia by ETP-Turf. Spreading by stolons and tillers, it is aggressive and establishes quickly, with a semi-prostrate growth habit and tight density that produces an attractive uniform playing surface. Shark is moderately dark green in colour and holds that colour well into autumn with no purpling. It exhibits improved disease resistance to brown patch and dollar spot diseases, as well as tolerance to wilt stresses. Shoot density and competitiveness against poa invasion is excellent.

In both the recent AGCSA variety trials & NTEP fairway and putting green trials, Shark demonstrates performance that exceeds existing standard varieties. It ranks in the top quality grouping for both soil and sand greens, under less than 3mm cut, and under reduced fungicides. Shark offers excellent density and a uniform playing surface, particularly under summer stress conditions which is a key attribute of the variety. For greens and tees, look to Shark. It's the superintendent friendly creeping bentgrass that combines versatility with dependable performance.

Seeding:
New Seeding: At a rate of 5 to 7.5 grams per square meter or 50 to 75 kilograms per hectare, in two directions, and with soil temperatures ideally above 18 Celsius. An extender like granular bran meal may improve uniformity when seeding. Insure good solid seed to soil contact is achieved.
Over-seeding / Inter-seeding: (to introduce a new variety into an existing stand.) After aerifying or verticutting, preferably several times sow at 10 to 15 grams per square meter or 100 to 150 kilograms per hectare of seed, then top-dress.

Establishment:
Emergence: 3 to 5 days (6 to 10 in cooler weather)
First mowing: approximately 21 days, depending on usage
First limited use: approximately 6 to 8 weeks depending on conditions
